Argylle

A meta spy action comedy directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn and written by Jason Fuchs. The film features an ensemble cast including Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Synopsis: Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden, a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

Re-recording mixer John Rush mixed the film for IMAX in our Mix Stage alongside mix technicians Kobi Quist and Hannes Wannerberger.

Coming to cinemas 2 February and to Apple TV+ at a later date.
 

Back To Black

A biographical film based on the life of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, played by Marisa Abela. The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and written by Matt Greenhalgh and also stars Jack O'Connell, Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan and Lesley Manville.

Premise: The film will delve into the life and career of Winehouse, beginning with her early days in the early 2000s as a North London jazz musician and culminating in her rise to fame as a Grammy-winning singer with hit songs like Rehab and Back to Black.

Marisa Abela’s audition for the role of Amy took place in The Gatehouse. Band sessions and cast recordings were carried out in Studio Three with producer Giles Martin, engineer Chris Sheldon, senior recordist Matt Jones and assistant engineers Joe Wyatt and Tommy Bosustow. Additional cast vocals were recorded in The Gatehouse by Joe Wyatt with Ollie Chandler assisting. Re-amping was carried out in Studio Two by Andy Maxwell and Joe Wyatt with studio runner Mack Kniese.

Coming to the UK on 12 April and US on 10 May.
 

Bob Marley: One Love

A biographical musical drama film directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. It is based on the life of reggae singer and songwriter Bob Marley, from his rise to fame up until his death in the early 1980s. The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Marley, alongside Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley, and James Norton as Chris Blackwell.

Premise: Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity. On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music. Produced in partnership with the Marley family and starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as the legendary musician and Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita.

The one and only Ziggy Marley recorded vocals with engineer Chris Bolster and recordist Daniel Hayden in The Penthouse.

Coming to US cinemas on 14 February and UK cinemas on 16 February.
 

Horizon: An American Saga

A two-part American epic Western film co-written, produced, directed by and starring Kevin Costner. The film co-stars an extensive cast consisting of Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Synopsis: Horizon chronicles a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is fraught with peril and intrigue from the constant onslaught of natural elements to the interactions with the Indigenous peoples who lived on the land and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it.

Composer John Debney recorded in Studio One with senior engineer Simon Rhodes who worked across the entire score here, as well as offsite. Simon Rhodes worked on the mix in The Penthouse along with recordist George Oulton and assistant engineer Tommy Bosustow.

Described as a two-part event, Chapter 1 is scheduled to be released on 28 June and Chapter 2 is scheduled to be released on 16 August.
 

Kung Fu Panda 4

An animated martial arts comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation. It is the fourth instalment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine. Featuring Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, and Ian McShane reprising their roles from the previous films, with Awkwafina, Viola Davis, and Ke Huy Quan joining the cast as new characters.

Synopsis: Po must train a new warrior when he's chosen to become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. However, when a powerful shape-shifting sorceress sets her eyes on his Staff of Wisdom, he suddenly realizes he's going to need some help. Teaming up with a quick-witted corsac fox, Po soon discovers that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

Co-composed by Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro, recorded in Studio One with engineer Geoff Foster, recordist John Prestige, score editor Chris Barrett, assistant engineer Tom Ashpitel and studio runner Al Russell.

Coming to US cinemas on 8 March and UK cinemas on 29 March.
 

Mickey 17

A science fiction film written, directed, and coproduced by Bong Joon-ho based on the 2022 novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

Synopsis: Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

Composer Jung Jae-il recorded in Studio One with engineer Lewis Jones, recordist George Oulton, assistant engineer Marta Di Nozzi and studio runner Ollie Chandler. Engineer Lewis Jones then worked on the mix in The Penthouse.

The Fall Guy

An action comedy film directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce. It is an adaptation of the 1980s TV series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson and stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.

Synopsis: He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?

Composer Dominic Lewis recorded between Studios One and Two with engineers Sam Okell and Nick Wollage, recordist Christopher Parker, assistant engineer Marta Di Nozzi and studio runner Martin Riley.

Premiering at SXSW in March before coming out in cinemas on 3 May.
 

The Garfield Movie

An animated comedy film based on Jim Davis's comic strip Garfield, produced by Columbia Pictures and Alcon Entertainment. Directed by Mark Dindal from a screenplay written by Paul A. Kaplan, Mark Torgove, and David Reynolds, the film stars Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang.

Synopsis: Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagne-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

Composer John Debney recorded in Studio One with senior engineer Simon Rhodes, recordist George Oulton, assistant engineer Marta Di Nozzi and studio runners Annie Gasiorowski and Ollie Chandler. Cast vocals were part-recorded between Studios Two and Three with Tommy Bosustow as assistant engineer and finally, George Oulton edited the score before he and assistant engineer Neil Dawes joined engineer Simon Rhodes to work on the final music mix.

White Bird: A Wonder Story

A coming-of-age period drama film directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by Mark Bomback, based on the 2019 graphic novel of the same name by R. J. Palacio. A spin-off and prequel to Wonder (2017), the film stars Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, Bryce Gheisar, Gillian Anderson and Helen Mirren, with Gheisar reprising his role as
Julian from Wonder.

Synopsis: Julian has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian's grandmother finally reveals her own story of courage. During her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. Together, they find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy's mother risks everything to keep her safe.

Composers Thomas Newman and Mark Siegel recorded in Studio One with senior engineer Simon Rhodes, engineer Gordon Davidson, recordist George Oulton and assistant engineer Freddie Light.
