Matt's involvement and interest in making music can be traced back to an opportunity to take Trombone lessons at school from around the age of 7. Starting to teach himself Guitar a few years later, Matt spent much of his teenage life playing in a variety of both Brass Ensembles and Rock / Metal Bands simultaneously. Tweaking sounds through pedals and amps, as well as being recorded himself during this time, led to a greater appreciation for the engineering side of things.
He went on to study the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey, spending a placement year working as a runner at Angel Studios in London, with brief stints assisting at Real World Studios and some Soho post-production facilities before that.
Matt started working at Abbey Road immediately after graduating in 2012, and has since worked with many of the industry's great engineers and composers on a huge range of orchestral film and video game soundtracks. 2015 saw him act as Assistant Engineer on Spectre, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt.2, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Halo 5 and Star Wars: Battlefront amongst many others.
