Abbey Road Equalise Session | Hamzaa, Kali Claire, Melle Brown & Cynesha Brown | Mini-Doc

Equalise is a new programme from Abbey Road Studios, created to inspire, empower and support diversity and under-represented communities in music, which we’ll be doing via filmed studio sessions, workshops, talks and mentoring.

Our first activity for 2021, begins this week as we launch our virtual festival in the lead up to International Women’s Day. Hear from the likes of Georgia, Baby Queen, Shura, Homay Schmitz, Fiona Cruickshank and many more in our free masterclasses and panel talks, which run throughout the week.

To kick start the week, we’re thrilled to be sharing our first Equalise studio session which we ran at the end of last year with Warner artist Hamzaa, Platoon’s Kali Claire, producer Melle Brown and musician, Cynesha Brown. These sessions have been created with the hope of inspiring and encouraging more young womxn into production and engineering. The mini-documentary reveals insights into their working habits: from how they begin a recording session, their creative processes and their tips and tricks, to the struggles they’ve had to overcome due to being a female artist, writer, musician or producer.

The session was engineered by Christopher Parker and our own Marta Di Nozzi, who also will be leading a Music Production 101 Masterclass tomorrow from 18:00PM GMT - which you can still sign up for here.

Watch the mini-documentary from the day below.
