Introducing the Most Comprehensive Gear Collection in our History

Introducing the Most Comprehensive Gear Collection in our History

As part of our mission to make our spaces more accessible, inclusive and conducive to creativity, we have implemented a series of major changes across the studios.

Alongside lowering our prices, bringing in more flexible hours and a redesign of some of our main spaces, we have introduced a major transformation to our equipment ecosystem - an expansive collection of over 100 new instruments and creative tools, marking the most comprehensive gear collection in our history.

Developed over an 18 month curation process led by Director of Marketing and Creative Mark Robertson and Artist Relations Manager Jack Lintorn, the list was crafted in collobration with our internal engineering team, our Producer in Residence Kid Harpoon, Artist in Residence Jordan Rakei, and friends of the studio including English Teacher, Khruangbin and Two Inch Punch to name but a few.

For artists and producers looking to book a studio in London for their next project, this collection offers an unparalleled blend of physical analogue hardware, rare instruments, and modern, creative tools designed to encourage instant innovation.

Vintage & Rare Instruments Sourced From Icons

Rather than on digital emulations, we wanted to provide the tactile experience of original hardware. Partnering with the specialists at Soundgas, we have acquired historic pieces with unique creative provenance, all fully serviced and maintained to the highest standards. This includes:

John Paul Jones’ Roland TR-808: The legendary, original drum machine previously owned and utilized by Led Zeppelin’s multi-instrumentalist
Adrian Utley’s Roland Jupiter-4: The highly sought-after, early polyphonic synthesizer once owned by the Portishead pioneer.
1967 Ludwig Hollywood Drum Kit: Based in Studio Three, this vintage kit was meticulously sourced over several months with the help of Nile Rodgers’ drum tech, Martin Oldham
The Rare & Unusual: The collection features left-field synths, including an elusive 1980s Japanese Suiko ST-50 Poetry Trainer synthesizer and Soma's hand-built wooden 'Terra' synthesizer that transforms touch and movement into sound

Reimagining our Spaces

To complement our workflow, we have transitioned much of this new equipment onto bespoke, visible racking systems within our corridors. Rather than keeping these tools stored away, they are entirely accessible to be brought directly into a session at a moment's notice.

Additionally, the racking houses a diverse selection of premium pedalboards and over 50+ pedals, ready to be used instantly with units from Hologram Electronics, Chase Bliss and EarthQuaker Devices.

Aligning History with Future Innovation

This new collection joins our permanent family of historic instruments at the studios ranging from the original Mrs Mills and Challen upright pianos to the RS56 Curvebender and Altec Compressor, each adding their own unique touch to an artist’s performance. By booking a studio you can have access to the vintage Abbey Road gear and instruments, subject to availability.
