Winners from the 2024 MOBO Awards

9th February 2024
Congrats to all the winners at the MOBO Awards 2024, including Best Alternative Act - Skindred, Best Hip-Hop Act - Little Simz and Best Jazz Act - Ezra Collective.

We're proud that Skindred mastered their album Smile here with Sean Magee, Ezra Collective joined us recently to record some new material in Studio Two and Little Simz worked on orchestral parts for her album No Thank You between here and Angel Studios.

Skindred

Last year Welsh metal/reggae band Skindred had a big moment with a campaign for their fantastic album Smile, which shot all the way up to No.2 in the Official Album Charts.

The group found a new audience through a TikTok dance trend using their 2005 single Nobody and called upon their existing fanbase to drive the new album up the charts.

We're proud to say Smile was mastered and cut to vinyl at Abbey Road by Sean Magee.

Little Simz

Having previously joined us to record strings for her Mercury Prize-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, Little Simz returned to record choir, orchestra and even some Brazilian drums for her latest album No Thank You between Angel Studios, Studio One and Studio Two.

All sessions were engineered by Ben Baptie with Freddie Light assisting at Angel, Freddie and Matt Jones assisting in Studio One, and Daniel Hayden and Marta Di Nozzi assisting in Studio Two.

Ezra Collective

After producing and mixing their debut EP Chapter 7, former Abbey Road engineer Matt Mysko welcomed the group to Studio Three to record their acclaimed follow up Juan Pablo: The Philosopher in 2017.

Last year, just before their Mercury Prize win, Ezra Collective were back in Studio Two recording new material with engineer/producer Ricky Damian, assistant engineer Freddie Light and studio runners Al Russell and Nia Clarke.
