My Abbey Road: Marta Di Nozzi

27th October 2022

This week’s My Abbey Road features Marta Di Nozzi, one of our finest assistant engineers.

After attending Abbey Road Institute and joining the team as a runner, Marta has since progressed to assistant engineer.

Working on a range of sessions for artists like Nile Rodgers, Ed Sheeran, Metronomy and Kaiser Chiefs and composers including Danny Elfman, Alexandre Desplat, Lorne Balfe and Michael Giacchino.

Read on for Marta's favourite moments and memories.

What does Abbey Road mean to you?

Working at Abbey Road Studios was my dream and now not only do I get to experience this amazing place, but with time it has also become where my family is.

What are some of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on and why?

I have developed a passion for orchestral recordings, something that I didn't know I would have loved before working at Abbey Road.

My favourite memories are the ones linked to big orchestras playing brilliant music for film written by amazing composers such as Danny Elfman and James Newton Howard for the movies Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and Fantastic Beasts.

Just chills!

What have you learned in your time at Abbey Road?

Oh, so many things about the job and how the building works from the more technical skills to how important team bonding and studio etiquette are. What Abbey Road Studios has given me in my time here is invaluable experience in all fields.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

As Assistant Engineer I get to cover so many roles in different sessions and it is never boring. It is such a flexible job. The thing that I like the most is the opportunity to work with great engineers and being able to learn from them, their techniques, their philosophy of work and approach to recording and mixing.
