Up first...

What was the most memorable project you worked on this year?

Annie

My most memorable project was working in Studio Three with Inhaler and Kid Harpoon, on their new song Hole In The Ground, earlier this year. Not only was it a great team to work with and a really good song to help record, but I also ended up playing cello on the track, which was really fun!

Matt

Probably Chris LorenzoAppetite. I worked with Chris a lot at my old studio, and now he always sends his stuff to me for finishing touches.

Cicely

One of my favourite projects this year has been Ellie Dixon’s Tales of a Knight EP – each track was so fun to work on by itself, but it’s also been such a joy seeing all the videos and the tour, it really felt like a big team effort and I was glad to be part of it!

Oli

TesseracT - RADAR (Live) Atmos mix. I used to live with a diehard TesseracT fan who introduced me to them and their Islington Academy show in 2013 was one of the best gigs I've been to, so working with the band on this RADAR show felt like a full-circle moment.

Tom

Flur's debut album Plunge. Great to step out of my usual wheelhouse with this one! I believe it's my first harp-centric release! Incredibly talented trio, an absolute pleasure to be a part of the project.

Alex

The two albums I did involving Matthew Herbert and Momoko Gill - Clay and Momoko's solo album Momoko (out next year). Amazing, inventive tunes and Momoko has such a beautiful voice.

Sherry

Balimaya Project, The Great Leslie and Duo Stiehler / Lucaciu. These are the sessions that reminded me why I wanted to do music for a living!

Stefan

The upcoming album hypernormaL by Shelf Lives was an amazing electronic punk record I had the honour of working on. The band are doing great, and the music is amazing. Definitely a must-listen for a band soon to blow up! Also, the concert film Straight Into The Arms Of Something accompanied by the live album Dream Big (Live With The National Symphony Orchestra) by Soda Blonde. This project was magical, a really amazing film and album I'm so proud to have had the opportunity to have my part in. Rett Smith - A Physical Persistence album - had an amazing time working on this one, was a really gritty sound that was so fun to do, not to mention a brilliant artist I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

Frank

Bob Marley 5 albums. Mastering for vinyl special release 100% entirely analogue. From original tapes produced by Chris Blackwell and Bob. Bob Marley is my favourite artist of all time.

Geoff

Find El Dorado, Paul Weller. Always nice to work with truly great British pop stars. Pulp’s Different Class remaster with Jarvis runs a close second.

Leah

My most memorable project was the EP THE WHIRR by Oreglo. It's amazing to be able to work on a collection of songs and see them come to life. They're a great band with great music and it was a chance to make more experimental choices in the studio that support the sound.

Simon

Segun Akinola - Kingdom OST (for the BBC natural history series on iPlayer). I have worked with Segun for several years, not least on Dr. Who. This is his mammoth score for the current nature documentary on the BBC, telling the story of four different animal groups in an area of a Zambia national park. Segun weaves orchestra, electronics and African singers and instrumentalists together into a stunning musical soundscape to accompany the drama on screen. I really enjoyed working on this and am enjoying watching the programmes as well.

Some of this year's music either written, recorded, mixed or mastered with us.

What was one of your favourite albums of 2025?

Annie

Favourite album released this year would probably be The Art of Loving Olivia Dean, I’m just a big Olivia Dean fan and her album didn’t disappoint.

Matt

I’ve got to say It’s Murph’s Weightless album. I mixed & mastered seven out of the nine songs on it, the other two were done during my short hiatus in between studios. Garrett is an awesome producer and very musical, the whole album is super melodic, fun and sounds incredible!

Cicely

Kae TempestSelf Titled

Oli

The Tubs - Cotton Crown. My spirit animal - a Welsh band based in Southeast London. They sing about Manic Street Preachers and Catford Wetherspoons. What's not to love?

Tom

Dijon's Baby. Dijon has such a unique voice and open production style where all his albums feel unique but consistent with his own style.

Alex

DJ Prosumer’s NTS show!

Sherry

Smoochies by Ashnikko, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party by Hayley Williams, and Animaru by Mei Semones. Sorry I can't pick one!

Stefan

I really enjoyed the Virgin album by Lorde, amazingly in-depth and introspective with a beautiful sound. And although released at the end of 2024, Songs Of A Lost World by The Cure, my favourite band.

Frank

Favourite new album of 2025 either Linkin Park - From Zero or Central Cee - Can’t Rush Greatness.

Geoff

Anything by Rude Jude. Old school 70’s funk in 2025 from a bloke with a beard.

Leah

JADE - That's Showbiz Baby.

Simon

Joe Stilgoe - Welcome to the Club. Fabulous album with songs all about the characters you find in and around a jazz club.

Which new artist, band or release are you most excited about for 2026?

Annie

The band Geese - I love their new album Getting Killed so I’m looking forward to what they will be up to next year!

Matt

Parris Goebel. She’s quite a famous choreographer, working with artists like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, SZA and Janet Jackson. She released her first EP Girl Is A Drug on Mad Decent last month which I stereo mastered here at Abbey Road. It was produced mainly by Kito and a bunch of other really talented producers. Each track bangs really hard and I’m sure would absolutely pop off in the club. I’m excited to see what she does next!

Cicely

Morgana –definitely go check her out. The light up balloons at Moth Club was a real gig highlight of the year and I’m excited to see what next year brings.

Tom

Aside from the few projects we have cooking, I'm hoping Mastodon do a 20th anniversary release of their 3rd album Blood Mountain next year. Such a pivotal album from my teenage years.

Alex

New Holy Tongue album.

Sherry

No Other Choice. I can’t wait to see the movie and it was a super fun session with Fiona Cruickshank from AIR.

Stefan

I'm a bit out of the loop with upcoming releases. There are some things I'm working on I'm really excited about but can't mention! So far, I'm looking forward to the Wuthering Heights movie album by Charlie XCX, the singles have been a captivating listen.

Frank

Looking forward to hearing the new Gorillaz album in 2026.

Geoff

Mica Millar’s 2nd album due out. Talented.

Leah

The new Hot Face record Automated Response is landing in January. I was a part of the recording session and it was another personal highlight so I'm excited to hear the final release!

Simon

Paco Pena - Requiem for the Earth. This was a project that Giles Martin produced for Paco, making a live recording some years ago. It has taken a long time to come to fruition, with Covid getting in the way! I worked on it some years ago at Abbey Road and then finally completed the mastering a month ago. It is a Flamenco-based musical requiem, using flamenco musicians and dancers, as well as a children's choir, to tell a story about the state of our planet. As a musical experience, it is uplifting and moving, with the Spanish influences to the fore.
