In the third part of this series, we talk to award winning mastering engineer Alex Wharton who is known for his preference for cutting to copper, having the only Neumann VMS 82 DMM (direct to metal mastering) lathe in the UK. Alex tells us some of the highlights of his mastering career.

One of my favourite bands of all time, it was an absolute pleasure to cut this record.
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Hawk
I love this soft and soulful vibe. “Cool Water” is a stand out track for me.
St. Germain - Real Blues
Ludovic back doing what he does best. Great album and Malian influence.
Aurora - Running With The Wolves
The debut album is timeless.This is definitely a track I’ve chosen for the soundscape. Great production, lovely warmth and harmonics with a powerful ending. She’s a special Artist no doubt.
Duke Dumont – Ocean Drive
