Seth MacFarlane Presents 'Great Songs From Stage and Screen' — Recorded at Abbey Road

Arranged and conducted by Bruce Broughton and recorded at Abbey Road, acclaimed vocalist Seth MacFarlane once again dips into the Great American Songbook with Great Songs From Stage and Screen, coming this Friday (28 August) via Republic Records / Verve Records.

MacFarlane’s new album was recorded in Studi Two, where he recruited a stellar line-up of players including Chuck Berghofer (bass), Peter Erskine (drums), Larry Koonse (guitar), Dan Higgins (alto sax) and Tom Rainier (piano). The vocalist also worked with members of the John Wilson Orchestra, his longtime friend and collaborator, the composer/producer Joel McNeely, and engineer Rich Breen.

The new album is a combination of ballads and uptempo tunes interpreted in MacFarlane’s much-admired style. They’re complemented by the lush and rich orchestrations of revered composer Bruce Broughton. The songs, with their origins in film and theatre by such great writers as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Lerner & Loewe and Henry Mancini, portray the golden age of Hollywood. MacFarlane mentions: “The album is masterfully arranged by composer Bruce Broughton, whose signature vibrance and sophisticated orchestral texturing is a perfect match for this collection of show-centric swing arrangements and ballads.”

Great Songs From Stage & Screen is released this Friday 28 August. Pre-order it here.
