Recent Mix Stage Project 'Cognition' Released Worldwide On-Demand

9th January 2021

Produced and directed by Ravi Ajit Chopra and starring Andrew Scott (1917, Fleabag, Spectre) and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, Treadstone, The Railway Man), Cognition is a short British dystopian sci-fi drama about a son confronting his past trauma. Journeying through the symbolic landscape of the subconscious mind, the story follows an unbreakable bond between father and son.

Filmed on location at the iconic Battersea Power Station, Cognition was the last film to be shot at the building during the huge redevelopment. Filming was made possible with support from various BBC departments and use of their BBC News helicopter for amazing aerial shots, including a stunning orchestral score from the BBC’s 55 Piece Concert Orchestra, recorded at AIR Studios in London with the final sound mix completed at Abbey Road.

Ravi worked closely with our Mix Technicians, Jack Cheetham and Kobi Quist to complete the final sound mix for the film in our state of the art sound mixing facility, the Mix Stage, and we think that you’ll agree - the results are hugely impressive. Ravi explained: “We worked at the legendary Abbey Road Studios for the final mix of Cognition. We recorded the score with BBC’s 55 piece Concert Orchestra at AIR Studios, and finished a Dolby Atmos mix across 45 speakers in their new suite… it was an amazing experience”.

Cognition has already received critical acclaim, with film critic Mark Kermode stating, “I call it a really impressive calling card…. I mean it's a short film that is calling out to be a Feature or a Series…. ” The film has also qualified and is now eligible for consideration in the Academy’s Live Action Short Film category at the Oscars in 2021.
