Out now! Grammy nominated, psychedelic soul band Black Pumas have unveiled all three live songs recorded at Abbey Road to mark our 90th anniversary!
On Wednesday we were treated to a live rendition of their song Colors, which won them 2 Grammy nominations as well as Record of The Year and Best American Roots Performance. The track is a bluesy rock single at its core with soul overtones that are reminiscent of Otis Redding. The sessions were recorded by Chris Bolster in Studio Two, assisted by Matt Jones and Andy Maxwell.
The songs originated from Black Pumas' self-titled debut album which on 21 June celebrated its third anniversary.
Some of the gear used included:
- Hammond RT-3 organ
- Fender Rhodes electric piano
- Moog Sub 37 synthesizer
- Neumann U67, U87 and KM84 microphones
- STC (Coles) 4038s drum overheads
Take a look below at some of the mesmerising shots that were taken from the session by Greg Giannukos.
