The Smile Release New Album, Wall Of Eyes, Part Recorded at Abbey Road

The Smile’s sophomore album, Wall of Eyes, is out today.

Released to critical acclaim, the album has earned itself 4-out-of-5-star praise from The Guardian, The Times, NME and Rolling Stone.

To coincide with the release, the trio have revealed a brand-new, Paul Thomas Anderson directed video for their current single Friend Of A Friend’. The video was premiered in 35mm alongside a surround sound album playback of Wall Of Eyes at a series of events hosted at independent cinemas over the course of the last week. The events were held in 18 cities including London, New York, Sydney, Seoul, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Mexico City, Jakarta and Los Angeles.

The album was recorded between Oxford and Studio Two, is produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies and features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

The sessions were engineered by Oli Middleton with Abbey Road’s Tom Ashpitel and former assistant engineer Joe Wyatt assisting.

 
 
The Smile have announced a new London gig at the Eventim Apollo on Sunday 10 March, an addition to the band’s sold-out UK dates. Tickets are on sale at 9am on Friday 26 January. The band will also play European dates in March, June and August, visit thesmiletheband.com/live for further details.

The Smile were recently announced as a headliner for BBC 6 Music’s festival in Manchester at 02 Victoria Warehouse on Saturday 9 March and they will be joined on stage by the London Contemporary Orchestra for this special, one-off show.

Wall Of Eyes is the follow up to the band’s 2022 acclaimed debut, A Light For Attracting Attention .
