The Penelopes' New Singles Mastered at Abbey Road by Miles Showell

French indie-pop / electronic duo The Penelopes are back after a two year hiatus with two new singles from their forthcoming album; their own rendition of Suicide’s Dream Baby Dream and an original single titled Meet Me By The Gates. Both singles have been mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road using our Online Mastering service.

The Penelopes, who have released two studio albums and have remixed singles for the likes of Lana Del Rey, Pet Shop Boys and David Bowie have enlisted the assistance of two iconic actresses for their new singles. The first of the two, Meet Me By The Gates, was released at the end of last year and features the French actress Isabelle Adjani who lends her vocal to the track, 36 years after her initial vocal debut.

Their latest single, a cover of electro-punk duo Suicide’s Dream Baby Dream, was released last week with actress Asia Argento. It gives a further taste of what to expect from the next album, which should be released "in the first half of 2020". Axel Basquiat from the band explains: "It will be much less electro-pop than what we did before. We removed the electro-pop varnish, it is more raw, more direct, more crooner."

Miles Showell, mastering engineer at Abbey Road, has mastered both singles from the forthcoming album. The duo explained of their delight at Miles' work on the track: “There are so many albums that have been produced or mastered at Abbey Road that we love. We have always been fans of Miles Showell's work; from Portishead to Disclosure or Brian Eno more recently. We love the accuracy and the attention they put in at Abbey Road.”
