Bernard Butler & Catherine Anne Davies Latest Single ‘Sabotage (Looks So Easy)’ Mastered at Abbey Road

Esteemed producer, musician and songwriter Bernard Butler together with multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and author Catherine Anne Davies (AKA The Anchoress) recently announced their collaboration and the forthcoming release of an album entitled In Memory of My Feelings. They have just released the second single Sabotage (Looks So Easy), which was mastered at Abbey Road by Sean Magee alongside the album.

Talking about the new single, Catherine told NME “Some people lift others up. They’re altruistic and constructive. Then there are the energy vampires who have perfected the art of destruction. It’s about toxic masculinity and I’m channelling my inner Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde here to raise a middle finger to every man who played the victim when they were called out.

Bernard added: “‘Sabotage’ was written when we reconvened a few years after anxiously writing the first set of songs, by which time I think we had both been trampled on a little … as is our style, without talking about it to each other, we consequently wanted to smash the room up a little and say ‘that’s enough now thanks.’’

Their forthcoming album was written and recorded by Davies and Butler over a period of just 15 days, although four years passed between the time of the album's conception and completion. . It’s also one of the last appearances of powerhouse drummer Mako Sakamoto, a long term collaborator and friend of Butler, who sadly passed away in August 2018. The recordings were produced and mixed by Bernard and mastered at Abbey Road by Sean Magee.
