BBC Introducing X Abbey Road Studios - Self Esteem

BBC Introducing X Abbey Road Studios - Self Esteem

Self Esteem, also known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor, is the last of four acts, chosen by BBC Radio DJs, who have this year been given the opportunity to record, mix and master in our new, smaller studio spaces across three days.

From two days of intense recording and mixing in The Gatehouse and one morning of mastering in Room Five came the alternative festive single All I Want For Christmas Is A Work Email. Inspired by Rebecca's passion of writing sad Christmas songs, she then premiered the track on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio Two show last Thursday (5 December).

"Hello I am here to ruin your Christmas," she exclaims, talking about the track. "I had the opportunity to record at Abbey Road for a few days and I thought I would use the time wisely. I’ve always been into writing sad Christmas songs as deep stans will know - and that desire has apparently not left me. This was in my head as soon as I had decided to write something ‘Christmassy’."

Abbey Road senior recordist Gordon Davidson was at the helm for the recording and mixing process in the Gatehouse studio, assisted by Neil Dawes, with mastering duties taken on by Christian Wright in Room Five.
