Alexandre Desplat's Score for The Shape of Water wins big at the BAFTAs

Last night, Londons Royal Albert Hall hosted the BAFTA British Academy Film Awards 2018 presented by Joanna Lumley. BAFTA ceremony courtesy of Matthew Wiseman, COO, BAFTA Los Angeles Following his recent Golden Globe win for Best Original Music on The Shape of Water, highly respected composer Alexandre Desplat continued the movies winning streak by securing the BAFTA for Best Original Music. Desplats work for the film is also nominated for Best Original Score at the Oscars, which take place on 4 March 2018. Desplat is no stranger to Abbey Road, having recorded multiple award-winning scores within the studios walls with The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Kings Speech both earning him a Best Original Music BAFTA and a Best Original Score award for The Grand Budapest Hotel at the Oscars.

Alexandre Desplat in Studio One by Jaap Buitendijk The Shape of Water itself brought in an almost record-breaking 13 Oscar nominations too, whilst scoring Best Director Award at both the Golden Globes earlier in the year as well as last nights BAFTAs. Alexandres score for The Shape of Water was recorded in Studio One and the session was engineered by Peter Cobbin and assisted by Abbey Roads John Barrett and George Oulton.
