Abbey Road Studios at AVA Conference London 2020

This March, Abbey Road Studios will once again be returning to Printworks London to join leading visionaries in electronic music at AVA Festival, the Audio-Visual Arts Festival & Conference. Celebrating the strong current of electronic music and digital visual arts, we’ll be hosting a masterclass that will cover the recording, mixing and mastering process, brought to you by our world-class engineering team.

At last year's conference, we brought along our music tech incubator, Abbey Road Red where we hosted a panel discussing how much technology has changed over the years and how our REDD department has been at the forefront of this, from wax discs and tape-based recordings to AI based workflow mastering tools. Panellists included Abbey Road's Mirek Stiles and Hash Riaz, Vochlea's Daven Sanassy and music producers Yoad Nevo, Amirali and Mark Ralph. We also hosted a stand where we showcased our range of plugins in partnership with Waves Audio and a range of music tech products from Vochlea, Cotodama and Polyend Perc Pro.

Abbey Road Studios' Masterclass at AVA Conference 2020

For this year's conference, we are delighted to be hosting a masterclass that will cover the recording, mixing and mastering process within electronic-based compositions. Led by Abbey Road's Recording Engineer Paul Pritchard and Mastering Engineer, Christian Wright, Paul and Christian will share their experience of working one of the most famous recording studios in the world and how his expertise can be used within the recording, mixing and mastering of electronic music.

Meet Paul Pritchard

Paul Pritchard has been a fundamental part of the recording team since joining as a runner in 2007 and become a permanent fixture after graduating in 2009. Since then Paul has worked on a vast number of projects across a wide range of genres. As part of our masterclass, Paul will be revealing his insights to the different facets of recording and mixing and answering the questions that you want to know.

Meet Christian Wright

Abbey Road's Christian Wright will be opening the doors to his mastering suite, showcasing and deconstructing one of his already mastered sessions. Some of the biggest and respected names in music have had their albums mastered by Christian at Abbey Road, including Jonny Greenwood, Kate Tempest, Future Islands, Black Midi, and Fontaines D.C. At this year’s AVA Conference, Christian will be opening the doors to his Abbey Road mastering suite, deconstructing and sharing one of his already mastered sessions from an electronic-based composition and answering your mastering-related questions.

There will also be a variety of keynotes, panels and workshops from acts such as Orbital, Daniel Miller, Ninja Tune, Resident Advisor and many more. Attend the conference for free by signing up using the link here.
