MOGWAI’s Tenth Studio Album, ‘As The Love Continues’ — Nominated for Mercury Prize

22nd July 2021

Scottish post-rock band Mogwai have released their tenth studio album, which is being hailed as “an instrumental masterclass”.

Mastered at Abbey Road by Frank Arkwright, the new album is both transcendent and surprising, and it continues to show that Mogwai are still offering solace from the mundane. In a review from Clash Music, the album is given 9/10 and described as “their best, and is possibly their most consistent record since 2006's ‘Mr Beast’.” Today (22 July), it has also been announced that the album has been shortlisted for this year’s Mercury Prize!

Tracks include To The Bin My Friend, Tonight We Vacate Earth, which is according to Clash Music “as huge as they've ever sounded”, and It's What I Want To Do, Mum which “sounds exactly like a band who have been together since their teens, and are still creating music they are excited and energised by”.

DIY Mag describes it as “instantly transport[ing us] back to their uniquely-formed wonderland” and “equal parts apocalyptic and beautiful”.

Mogwai also shared the cinematic video for the single which was created within the Unreal Games Engine by director Sam Wiehl who “created a whole first-person multi-level computer game for the song, which then formed the animations and narratives for the video”.
