Introducing The Let It Be 1970 Range

7th October 2020

Celebrating The Beatles' final studio album, Let It Be, Abbey Road Studios has released an exclusive range including a T-Shirt, Tote Bag and Slip Mat.

Rehearsals for the album began in January 1969, with all the recordings being filmed for a documentary that was about The Beatles returning to live performances. This project yielded the famous rooftop concert, which was held on the 30 January 1969 on the roof of the Apple Corps building. This was their first live performance in over two years and would ultimately be their last together. The 42-minute set was recorded onto two eight-track machines in the building’s basement by Sir George Martin and the show brought Savile Row and neighbouring streets to a standstill. The band would never perform live again.

Over the course of the next 16 months, the band worked on the ambitious project, which was originally titled Get Back, and intended to document the back-to-basics rebirth of The Beatles. The album was then put on hold, and The Beatles created Abbey Road, and Let It Be was finally finished and released in May of 1970.
