2017 has been a phenomenal year in music; the sheer volume and quality of new releases, remasters and film scores has been overwhelming. It fills us with pride to know that the amazing Abbey Road team played their part in making it all happen.
Now as the days get shorter, the weather turns nasty and 2017 draws to its inevitable close, we can’t help but feel a tad reflective and look back on the year that’s passed.
So, we asked around Abbey Road Studios to find out the highlights of the year for our engineers and studio staff – their favourite projects to work on, their favourite albums of the year, and of course, what they want to get for Christmas.

Highlight of 2017: Mastering albums for Mute, Domino, Rough Trade, Communion and Marshall – these are all labels I either loved as a teenager or are really exciting new labels.
Favourite Album of 2017: So, so many. Some may say too many!
Favourite Christmas song: Have a Cheeky Christmas by The Cheeky Girls. I’ve never actually listened to it, but I already know it’s great because their entire catalogue is faultless.
All I want for Christmas is: For Christmas to be over. And to give peace a chance, just a little chance.
Tip for 2018: Model Man, Ro Ro, Oh Maddie and San Jua.

Highlight of 2017: Showing legendary filmmaker Mel Brooks The Mix Stage was an amazing moment for me as I grew up watching his films and have always admired his sense of humour. Another stand out work day was The Mix Stage launch party! Seeing so many industry professionals come together to celebrate the opening of The Mix Stage was incredible and the feedback we received that night, and since, has been overwhelmingly positive. It really started the year off with a bang and the success of the stage has grown ever since.
