ELIGIBILITY TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Promoter is Virgin Records Limited, t/a Abbey Road Studios of 4 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG, (“Promoter”).

Eligibility

The Promoter intends to run a “Power of Immersion Hackathon” which is a 36-hour developer competition focused on immersive music technology from 10.00 GMT 9th November 2019 until 16.00 GMT 10th November 2019 at Abbey Road Studios (“Event”) where Promotor will select candidates to participate in the Event.

To be eligible to participate in the Event you must fill out the application form found at: www.abbeyroad.com/hackathon (“Application Form”). The Application Form will be made available from 12:00 GMT 16th September 2019 until 23.59 GMT 7th October 2019 (“Submission Period”). Entries received after this time will not be valid or considered.

4.
The Event is not open to employees, agents or directors (or immediate family members of the same) of the Promoter or any of our associated companies or subsidiaries.

5.
By submitting the Application Form, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to participate in the Event. The Promoter may require you to provide proof of your eligibility.

6.
If Promoter selects you as a Candidate, you will receive the full Event terms and conditions prior to the Event.

How to enter

7.
The competition is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary.

8.
To enter the competition:

a.
be 18 years or older;
b.
be able to fund your own travel and accommodation to and from Abbey Road Studios at 3 Abbey Rd, St John's Wood, London NW8 9AY;
c.
submit the Application Form in its entirety;
d.
have a working laptop available for use during the Event;
e.
be able to attend the Event from 10.00 GMT 9th November 2019 until 16.00 GMT 10th November 2019

To enter the prize competition entrants must have a mobile phone or other wireless or electronic device that supports internet access. Normal internet access and data usage charges imposed by your carrier or online service will apply.

The Promoter accepts no responsibility for Application Form submissions that are not successfully completed, lost, or delayed in transit due to any technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware, software or any other equipment failure.

You will be able to participate in the Event with teams up to 6 people. Each member of your team must complete and submit the Application Form (you can list your team member on the Application Form). There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint or multiple submissions are not allowed and will not be considered.

How you will be judged

The Promoter’s Event organisers will judge all applicants who have submitted an Application Form during the Submission Period. A maximum of 70 applicants will be chosen based on their Application Form and the following criteria:

Programming skillset as outlined related to AR and special computing
Achievements within music industry/ art industry/science
Education and professional experience relating to AR and spatial computing
Ideas presented for this particular hack

13.
Successful applicants will be emailed by the Promoter before 12:00 AM GMT on 18th October 2019 (“Candidates”). You will be provided full Event terms and conditions prior to the Event date.

The prize

14.
This is a prize competition for 70 Candidates to each participate in the Event:

If you are unable to attend the date of the Event, sadly the Promoter will need to choose another candidate.

16.
All Candidates will be required to arrange their own transport and accommodation to and from the Event and will be responsible for their own equipment.

17.
The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize competition is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into about it.

18.
There is no cash alternative for the prize and it cannot be exchanged or transferred.

19.
The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control makes it necessary to do so.

General


20.
The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners to anyone who emails info@umusic.com within one month after the Submission Period. If you object to any or all of your surname or county being published or made available, please contact the Promoter at info@umusic.com. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

Personal data supplied during the course of this prize competition will only be processed as set out in the privacy policy stated below:

By submitting a prize competition entry, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.

23.
The Promoter reserves the right to extend the Submission Period, change the Event date and hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.

24.
We will not be held responsible for any costs incurred by you in entering the competition (whether or not such entry is successful) or in relation to you taking part in the Prize.

25.
The Promoter will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize, provided that nothing in these terms shall exclude or limit the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from the Promoter’s negligence or a deliberate act of the Promoter; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or to the extent that any liability cannot be excluded or limited by law.

26.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
