What Is Equalise?
Abbey Road Equalise is our yearly programme designed to help create a more balanced music industry. We equip aspiring female and non-binary producers, engineers, artists, and creatives with the foundational skills, knowledge and support they need to succeed.
We tap into our expertise, network and unique resources to bring you immersive recording workshops. In these sessions, you'll observe, participate and learn as up-and-coming artists record new music in real time. These sessions are led and engineered by Abbey Road's own female engineering team, giving you invaluable insights into music production, recording, mixing, mastering and more.
Equalise also goes beyond the studio. Our programme is designed to help you build your career. You'll hear from leading talent across the industry, get personalised guidance through one-on-one career conversations and mentoring sessions, and have opportunities to network with established professionals both in person and online.
We're here to inspire and empower the next generation of rising female and non-binary talent. Our goal is to drive greater diversity and representation in the music industry and close the gap, given that less than 3% of producers and engineers are female.

Programme Overview
In early 2020, we created Abbey Road Equalise, born out of the Studios’ commitment to driving awareness and understanding of music production as a credible and accessible career path for under-represented groups.
For the last five years the programme has delivered events and initiatives to coincide with International Women’s Day, Pride and Trans Day of Visibility, highlighting artist and production career paths through themes of music production, composition, songwriting, innovation, technology and beyond.
In 2024, we introduced immersive recording workshops where aspiring female and non-binary engineers and producers shadowed a female engineering team and got to contribute to live recording sessions. These workshops were so successful that we expanded them in 2025 to six sessions, each one guiding participants through the entire creative process, from preparation and production to mixing, mastering, and even cutting to vinyl.
