Studio Runner

Marcela’s journey into audio began behind a classical piano, later expanding into electric guitar and drums, fuelled by a love of pop and metal. This broad musical foundation naturally led her toward sound, and in 2023 she began working professionally as a live sound engineer at iconic London venues including The Dublin Castle, the Royal Opera House, and O2 Academy Islington.

While live sound sharpened her technical instincts, her curiosity for studio engineering brought her to the Abbey Road Institute, where she graduated with honours as top of her class. Soon after, Marcela joined the Abbey Road Institute technicians’ team and took on a runner role at Angel Studios. There, she contributed to a range of high-profile sessions, including work on Goodbye June starring Kate Winslet, House of Guinness for Netflix, and the recording of Sunday Light by Anna Calvi, Ellie Rowsell, Nilüfer Yanya and Dove Ellis for War Child RecordsHelp(2) album.

Throughout 2025, Marcela also freelanced as a studio assistant at Three Six Zero Studios, supporting internationally recognised artists such as Tems, Shenseea, Ellie Goulding, BURNS and Loreen. Alongside her assistant and runner work, she has built a parallel freelance career as a mix engineer, collaborating with emerging artists across London’s hard-rock and electro-pop scenes.

Driven, adaptable, and deeply musical, Marcela brings both technical precision and creative empathy to every session - qualities that define her work as an Abbey Road studio runner and beyond.
