Studio Runner - Team Leader

Charlie has experience working in a wide-range of recording and mixing situations from orchestral and film scoring sessions to tracking bands and solo artists.

He began his foray into music at an early age listening to his parent’s music collection. After teaching himself to play the guitar in his early teens, he discovered a passion for creating music that set him on the path to studying a Bachelor of Music at the Australian Institute of Music.

His interests shifted to focus on sound engineering after leaving university, and he began freelancing at recording studios like Church Street Studios and Rancom Street Studios with producers Sean Carey of Thirsty Merc and Garth Porter of Sherbet. In 2020, he began his career as an assistant engineer at Underwood Studios. While working at this studio, he collaborated with a host of emerging talent and soon also began interning at The Brain Recording Studios, recording local and international hardcore acts such as Life's Ill, No Cigarettes and Vexeora.

In 2022, Charlie began a role as assistant engineer at Trackdown Studios where he worked on a number of high-profile film and television scores such as The Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Convert and Marvel’s What If? and Echo. He also served as recordist on Ironheart and Wonder Man. In addition to his work on film, television and gaming scores, Trackdown offered Charlie the opportunity to further his passion for recording bands and work with a number of rock and pop acts, including Joint Custody and Denim On Her.

Charlie has already worked closely with leading engineers such as Peter Cobbin, Kirsty Walley, John Kurlander and John Chapman, providing him with a wealth of knowledge and mentorship that has broadened his recording knowledge and inspired the dedication he has garnered for sound engineering.

In 2025, he moved to London to pursue his dream of working at Abbey Road Studios and just a month after arriving, that dream became a reality. Since starting at Abbey Road, Charlie has worked closely with renowned producers Giles Martin, Mike Hedges, Bryce Goggin and Jeff Russo and with artists such as Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr, Dave, Paul and Jeremy Stacey, Robben Ford, Pino Palladino, Luke Combs, Ashley McBryde and Jaurim. He has also worked on orchestral scores with composers like Michael Giacchino, Joe Trapanese, Stephen Barton and Steven Price in addition to serving as assistant engineer for artists including Raye and Jordan Rakei.
