Ramones Remixed & Remastered

Ramones Remixed & Remastered

4th August 2016
The Ramones are celebrating 40 years since the release of their self-titled punk debut masterpiece this September with a massive 3CD/1LP deluxe edition boxed set, packed with unreleased demos, remixed and remastered right here at Abbey Road with original album producer Craig Leon.

The album was remixed by recording engineer Sam Okell in Studio Three on a vintage TG12345 desk, and remastered for the first time ever in mono by mastering engineer Sean Magee, whose previous mastering credits include fellow punk rockers Sex Pistols and Magazine.

Original album producer Craig Leon, who attended both the mixing and mastering sessions, said that it was always the band's intention to have the record released in mono to match their stripped-down arrangements, as well as to record at Abbey Road, a "wild idea" that was never before made possible.

The producer, whose credits include all of the biggest New York acts of the time such as Blondie, Suicide and Talking Heads, commented,

I’m so pleased to have been able to present the original two track master from Plaza Sound in 1976 and to recreate the mono mix that was intended to accompany it. Working on Ramones at Abbey Road fulfilled our original intentions and dreams from so long ago.
