John Barrett

John’s career at Abbey Road started in late 2005 as a studio runner for a year on placement, forming part of his university degree in music and sound recording.  From humble beginnings throughout the course of the year, John quickly progressed to running Pro Tools and tracking numerous bands as well as TV and film sessions throughout the year, and after graduating John re-joined the team in 2007.

Throughout his time at Abbey Road John has gained a vast amount of experience across all genres of music.  As a consequence John is fully experienced in a wide array of recording styles and feels equally at home recording a large scale Orchestral film score in Studio One as he does tracking a rock or pop band in Studio Three.  John has also been fortunate enough to have worked on a number of large scale location recordings during his time at the Studios.
John has an extensive list of film, TV and computer game credits including working as Orchestral Engineer for Jonny Greenwood’s film score for Inherent Vice, additional music mixing on Arcade Fire’s documentary  The Reflektor Tapes and additional engineering on Seth McFarlane’s 2015 album Nobody Ever Tells You.
