Hugo and The Artist lead Oscar nominations

Nominations for the 84th Academy Awards have been revealed, with Hugo and The Artist leading the pack.

Scorsese's Hugo received a total of 11 nods, including Best Score for Howard Shore's soundtrack, recorded by Simon Rhodes in Studio One. Ludovic Bource's soundtrack for The Artist, mastered by Peter Mew, is also up for Best Score, one of a total of 10 nominations for the film.

Other Abbey Road projects in the running include The Tree of Life, The Iron Lady, My Week with Marilyn, The Ides of March, W.E. and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, score recorded by Peter Cobbin in New York, is also nominated.
