Band on the Run nominated for a Grammy Award

Nominations for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards have been announced, with many Abbey Road Studios projects in the running.

The remastered edition of Paul McCartney's Band on the Run has been nominated for Best Historical Album. Congratulations to engineers Steve Rooke, Allan Rouse, Simon Gibson and Sam Okell, who worked on the release.

Further nominations for Abbey Road projects were received across rock and pop, classical and film categories.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, recorded in Studio Three, was shortlisted for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Body and Soul, a duet from Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse that was also recorded in Studio Three, is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The King of Limbs by Radiohead, cut to vinyl by Abbey Road engineer Alex Wharton, is in the Best Alternative Music Album category.

Classical nominees include studio engineer Arne Akselberg, who is up for Best Engineered Classical Album for his recording of Rachmaninov: Piano Concertos Nos. 3 & 4. The album is also nominated for Best Classical Instrumental Solo. Verdi: La Traviata, recorded and mixed by Jonathan Allen, is up for Best Opera Recording.

Meanwhile, The King’s Speech and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, both composed by Alexandre Desplat and recorded in Studio One, are going head to head in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category.
