Biography
Simon graduated from Cambridge University where he gained a master of engineering degree before studying for a master of music (Tonmeister) at the University of Surrey. He worked as a freelance recording engineer and singer before joining Abbey Road in 1993. Simon is head of editing at the studios and a producer of recordings both in the studios and on location with the Abbey Road mobiles recording unit. He is responsible for the production and postproduction of classical recordings and also edits many film soundtracks. Recent projects include a recital of french songs "Un Frisson Francais" with the american mezzo Susan Graham, Berlioz "Symphony Fantastique" with Sir Simon Rattle, Vivaldi Cello Concertos with Han Na Chang, Howard Goodall's "Eternal Light: A Requiem" and a Schubert Lieder recital with Elizabeth Watts. Other highlights have included Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an exhibition" and Mahler's Symphony No9 with Sir Simon Rattle, Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde", Paul McCartney's "Ecce Cor Meum", George Fenton music for the film "Planet Earth", Michael Nyman's Opera "Love Counts" and "The Lord of the Rings" soundtrack cd.
