Biography
Arne Akselberg gained a prestigious reputation as a classical balance engineer both in his native Norway and internationally before being invited to join Abbey Road Studios as Senior Classical Engineer in 1998. Arne works regularly with Leif Ove Andsnes, Ian Bostridge, the Belcea Quartet, Maxim Vengerov and Sir Paul McCartney.
In addition, during his career Arne has also worked extensively with such classical artists as Yuri Temirkanov, James Galway, Sabine Meyer, Sir Charles Mackerras, Mariss Jansons, David Daniels and Itzhak Perlman. His superb skills and musical taste are well known to a variety of record companies, including EMI, BMG, Hyperion and Sony.
In addition to his 2007 Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Classical, Arne has won two Grammys: for Truls Mork's recording of the Britten Cello Suites (2001) and for Maxim Vengerov's recording of the Britten Violin Concerto and Walton Viola Concerto, conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich (2005).
