We are delighted to announce that Band on the Run, remastered by Abbey Road Studios engineers Steve Rooke and Sam Okell, won Best Historical Album at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards last night.
The deluxe edition of the classic Paul McCartney and Wings release includes three CDs featuring a digitally remastered version of the album, audio documentary and bonus tracks, plus a DVD containing rare behind-the-scenes footage, original promotional videos and a documentary. Band on the Run was initially nominated for Album of the Year at the 17th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 1974. Sam was in attendance at the 54th Grammy Awards to accept the accolade.
Other fantastic wins for the studios were Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, awarded to Alexandre Desplat for his score for The King’s Speech, recorded and mixed by Peter Cobbin and mastered by Simon Gibson at Abbey Road Studios.
Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse’s duet recorded in Studio Three, Body and Soul, also won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on these amazing projects for their well-deserved awards.
